Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in this area, in 2009 we formed our organization to provide sensible solutions. We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of our amazing community!
We focus on making the maximum positive effort for our community. Our members and volunteers provide the momentum that helps us affect change. Using data driven models, we provide solutions that make a long-lasting difference.
In At-Risk communities we've learned that families are not about to have something as simple as family time. So we created our JAC Family Night Out Initiative where we curate special events and trips for Families!
Our Takeshia Jackson Youth Entrepreneurship program is a program that teaches youth the basic skills of entrepreneurship. This program is named after our founders sister who started her business in her twenties before she passed away. Youth leave this program with a full business plan and a seed investment into their business.
We host Quarterly community cleanups to help keep our community clean. We try to instill in our youth the importance taking care of your community and having a sense of pride in where you live. We partner with local businesses and organizations to assist with resources and providing volunteers for the community clean up!
One of the things our founder loved to do growing up was go to the movies. Going to the movies educates, inspires and allow an escape from reality if only for a brief moment. Whenever there is a movie with historical significance or a heartwarming family film we plan our JAC Family night out and we take the community to the movies. We have done private screenings of 12 years a Slave, Selma, Chiraq, and The Lion King just to name a few.
Every year we host our annual community breakfast with Santa free. We over 150 families in attendance where each attendant receives breakfast, a picture with Santa to take home and two to three gifts. We also have resource vendors on site for the families to take part in!
A part of our mission is to empower our Seniors so we host senior empowerment events. We go to local senior buildings, book local restaurant or banquets hall and we EMPOWER seniors with resources, guest speakers to discuss topics like senior safety, fraud prevention, financail literacy and more, giveaways and we end with an activity!
We host Financial Literacy Workshops to educate our members about the importance of credit, banking, savings and investments. Each class has a different theme.
The C.O.F.F.E.E. Collective (Combined Organizations Fighting For Economic Empowerment) is a initiative dedicated to the Financial & Economic Advancement of individuals who have been financially and Economically oppressed through the lack of Financial Literacy, Financial Resources & Financial Opportunities.
We host workshops where we invite guest speakers to come out and empower and educate our members. We host our speakers series for youth to seniors and have had guest speakers like former Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emmanuel.
